Getting to know Nick

I live in South Dakota and prior to that I lived in Iowa. I began my career in talent acquisition while receiving my associate's degree in Business Management and Technology. I discovered my passion for recruiting by accident but I feel there is no greater reward than helping others discover their value.  I am married and we have three children (24, 18, & 6) and two cats. When I am not working, I enjoy things like: traveling, DIY home renovations, gardening, hiking, fishing, camping, boating, reading, and playing video games. Family time is important to me so I look for activities we can all enjoy.

Why is it important to you to work at an organization that has EPIC (Empowerment, Passion, Inspiration, Community) values? Which EPIC value resonates with you the most?

Working for an organization that has EPIC values is important to me for a few reasons. First, having EPIC values allows people in the company to know what really matters to us and it lays the foundation for everything. Secondly, the EPIC values inspire me to do better and hold myself to a higher standard. Having EPIC values also supports our culture and how we interact with each other daily.

Passion is the EPIC value that I relate to the most. Recruiting is my passion and helping others is my motivation. Understanding people's passions and needs allows me to connect them to the right job. Sharing these experiences with others offers me the opportunity to build lasting relationships with people from all backgrounds.  Passion allows me to have fun and enjoy what I do every day. Passion leads to determination and inspiration to be the best. "Nothing is as important as passion. No matter what you want to do with your life, be passionate." -Jon Bon Jovi.

What is your favorite part of working on the Talent Acquisition team?

The best part of working on the TA Team is the community support. After working as a lone recruiter for five years, it is great to be a part of team that is so diverse and supportive. We all have different experiences and it is great to collaborate with likeminded people who bring a different perspective. We are always embracing and driving changes to improve the candidate experience and make our work more fun.

What have you learned or how have you grown as a result of working at Quadient?

There are so many things that I have learned while working at Quadient these include: staying open-minded and embracing change, acting with trust and confidence to better service my customers, being passionate is ok and encouraged, lead by example and constantly innovate, and to think beyond my own team and how we can support other customers, partners and communities. Personal development is very important at Quadient and there are plenty of opportunities to learn more.

I have grown in the following areas as a result of working at Quadient: increased knowledge in global recruiting and HR functions, improved communication, listening, presenting, planning, organization, and time management skills. Since working at Quadient I feel more confident in sharing my knowledge/experiences and how these might help others.
